Late for the Sky - Masterpiece
Many, many critics and fans have pondered how Jackson Browne at such a young age (he was about 25 years old when this album was written) could have such insight and wisdom. He caught it just right for almost anyone listening to the songs on the Late for the Sky album. Nearly everyone who listens to Jackson's music (and especially this album) finds words they feel are written for them. I am no different. The bolded text from the lyrics are some of his words that felt to me as if they were written just for me. From the title cut, to Fountain of Sorrow, then to The Late Show and finally, to Before the Deluge, all are agreed that the best handle for this album is, Masterpiece. The skill with which Jackson blends the poetry that makes the songs so meaningful is matched by his music and his production of the album. No one could have done it better. |

Fountain of Sorrow Looking through some photographs I found inside a drawer You were turning 'round to see who was behind you Now the things that I remember seem so distant and so small Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light Now for you and me it may not be that hard to reach our dreams Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light You've had to hide sometimes but now you're all right Fountain of sorrow, fountain of light |

Farther On In my early years I hid my tears Still I look for the beauty in songs To those gentle ones my memory runs I'm not sure what I'm trying to say And the angels are older Now the distance leads me farther on But the angels are older |

For A Dancer Keep a fire burning in your eye I don't know what happens when people die Just do the steps that you've been shown Keep a fire for the human race Into a dancer you have grown |

Before the Deluge Some of them knew pleasure Now let the music keep our spirits high Some of them were angry Now let the music keep our spirits high |
