Sarah Mclachlan's Version of "In The Bleak Mid-Winter"
by Joe M. Young

Sarah Mclachlin's Version of In The Bleak MidWinter has to be so far and away better than any version I've ever heard it should be in a class all to its own. In case you are not familiar with the song, or even if you are, her lyrics are included below since sometimes her arrangements make it difficult to hear her words. If you want to listen to her version, you can do it
Note: Pay particular attention to Sarah's voice on the bolded words. She does things with an otherwise plain song that no one else has the creativity or passion to do.

"In The Bleak Mid-Winter"

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone.
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and Seraphim thronged the air
But His mother only, in her maiden's bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, would I bring a lamb?
If I were a Wise Man, would I do my part?
Yet what can I give Him... give my heart.

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone.
If I were a Wise Man, would I do my part?
Yet what can I give Him... give my heart
