Protest is childish in Sierra Del Oro
To the Editor:
Reading about the residents of a housing tract in Sierra Del Oro, I feel that an adult needs to intervene and put things in prospective. For those of us who lived in Corona when Sierra Del Oro was just an idea in some developer’s greedy mind, we remember green hills to look out on. We remember hiking trails and unspoiled natural beauty.
Then they moved in: The earth-movers. We hated it more than the newcomers could know. But bowing to the need for more housing in a rapidly growing suburb, we swallowed it. Like adults do. We didn’t like it, but life is full of things we don’t like. And no one gave anyone a written guarantee that once they were in their homes, growth would stop.
Indeed, when Sierra Del Oro was first proposed, a public disclosure of the entire development was brought forth. There are no surprises here. If they had bothered to check into it, they would have seen that these new homes were planned before their houses were built - the same houses that took away our scenic view.
Wake up! If you want a hillside all to yourself, plan on buying a house in Montana. As long as there is money to be made, there will always be development in Southern California.
As a post script, it seems to me that Mayor Bennet spends an inordinate amount of time on these people. Is there a vested interest somewhere? The other nine-tenths of Corona could use a little help from time to time, instead of using his energy to help and sympathize with people that are breaking the law. He ought to be ashamed of himself
